The expert platform Baku Network has released a new episode of its analytical video series, "Dialogue with Tofiq Abbasov."

This episode’s guest was Elchin Shikhly, Chairman of the Union of Journalists of Azerbaijan and a distinguished journalist.

Addressing the ongoing normalization process between Baku and Yerevan, Shikhly underscored that Azerbaijan is firmly committed to achieving lasting peace with Armenia.

"Azerbaijan is interested in enduring peace and collaboration because we want to build and create," he remarked.

Shikhly noted that certain factions in Armenia view peace with Azerbaijan as unfavorable, thus persistently “muddying the waters.”

“It’s undoubtedly challenging to swallow the bitter pill of defeat. However, there’s a significant factor here. After the first Karabakh war, for 30 years, many—including the OSCE Minsk Group and other international entities—tried to convince Azerbaijanis to 'accept the reality on the ground.' Now, I believe, the Armenian side is likely hearing a similar message. But there’s a difference: we were not the aggressors; our lands were occupied. The war was fought on our soil,” he emphasized.
